Do You Remember Making Shadow Puppets?
October 27, 2018Most campers find having a supply of trail mix on hand for their camping trip is a quick and healthy snack for the whole family. It can provide a good source of protein and an energy boost for the little ones after running all afternoon. Buying trail mix can be expensive, though, so making it yourself is something to consider.
It’s really not hard to do and can be customized to the preferences of your family. Kids can even make their own if you’re up for it. You can give each child a zipper sealed plastic bag and have the ingredients all set out to choose from. Some ideas of things to have on hand are as follows:
Peanuts, cashews, almonds, pistachios, chocolate coated candies, chocolate chips, mini pretzels, mini cheese crackers, bagel bits, raisins, dried apricots, dried cranberries, mini cereal squares, flaked coconut, toasted sesame sticks, hot n spicy peanut mix, gummy bears, and licorice bites.
The kids can add their favorite items to their bags and will enjoy creating their own specialty mix. Write their name on the bag with a marker and you are good to go. You can bring along the rest of the snacks to refill their bags as they finish them off. This kind of snack can get them through until dinner or keep them happy on a road trip.
We know you’ll burn a lot of energy while you’re camping and the kids will, too. This kind of snack will keep you out of the kitchen and keep the kids happy at the same time. Happy camping to all.
